Project Manager David Moritz said installing the last two arches with stained glass is the last major project for the firm which started outside renovations over a year ago. Four SFA offensive line football players, Corey Dickerson, Josh Hahn, Chris Garrison and Maxwell Holmes, were on hand to assist with the renovations. "I enjoy when they renovate historical buildings and it seems like Nacogdoches has a big historical sense compared to Arizona," Garrison, who is from Arizona, said. "I'm happy I could help out."

Students include, from left, Giselle Rivera, Andrew Sifuentes, Jonathan Flores, Sophia Romero and Dayana Vasquez. Close to 2700 students will visit the Arboretum during this four day event. Each group visits four stations where they see live examples of butterflies and honey bees along with hands-on activities about the forest. Fred Lytle, 91, watches as retired SFA Music Professor Isidor Saslav plays one of the 25 fiddles, called LytleLins, he has made over the past six years. Lytle started making violins at the urging of his son-in-law, Kent Gill, who plays. Gill accompanied his father-in-law Thursday night to a presentation for the Nacogdoches Art League at the Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House. Averaging 100 hours of work on each fiddle, Lytle has given several away to family members and friends even if they do not play.

  • CHRISTY WOOTEN/The Facts.Angleton Christian School Principal Jeanna Stallman kisses Big Fluffy, a 10-month-old angus cross, Thursday as Dennis Cooper holds the heifer. Stallman promised her Pre-K through eighth grade students if they raised $200 for library books, she would kiss a cow. After they raised it in one week, she told the 60-plus students body if they raised $500 the entire staff would kiss a cow. Within three weeks, students had raised $611 through collecting change, which will go toward starting the school's library. The school currently uses the county library down the street. A percentage of money from a book fair will also go toward buying books. About 15 staff kissed Big Fluffy as the students watched.

The set was dedicated at Bess Brannen Elementary School Friday after the PTO raised the money in just five months.
